A Critical Review of Leadership Styles in the SMEs: A Quantitative Investigation

Abstract
To determine the most effective style of leadership in SMEs, various approaches have been designed as
leaders makes a strong influence on behavior, attitude, commitment, and satisfaction of employees. It is
revealed by past researches that the main focus of business is to investigate different styles of leadership.
Regardless of the importance of leadership in SMEs, not much studies are conducted exploring styles of
leadership in SMEs. There are many styles of leadership defining the way how manager acts, reacts,
behaves, and take decisions, and how their behavior make impact on the wellbeing of employees. Unlike
in large business enterprises, in small business enterprises the influence of leadership on employees is
more in direct and personal way due to small number of hierarchical levels and continuous interaction
between leaders and employees. 179 respondents is the sample size considered in this study. T test and
mean was applied to find the result of study.
