A Study of Impact of Internet Usage on Mental Health of Secondary School Students

Abstract
Internet is the most powerful invention of this century. The internet is one of the major technological systems currently changing how we define knowledge, personal value and social relationships (Postman, 1992; Webster, 1995). It has become a gateway of information, communication, commerce and entertainment for everyone. The present study was an attempt to study the impact of Internet Usage on mental health of secondary school students. To complete this attempt, the investigator selected 200 students of secondary school students as sample for the study. Internet Usage Scale by Saini and Kaur (2017) was used to evaluate Internet Usage. Major findings of this study are Internet Usage has been found to have a significant effect on mental health of secondary school students. Students with low internet usage was found better mental health than high Internet Usage. Male students' mental health has been shown to be worse than female students. It has also been shown that Locality has a significant impact on secondary school pupils' mental health. Urban students have greater mental health than rural students do.
