A Study on the Psychological Cause of Trauma in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus

Abstract
This article explores the trauma which was encountered by the children in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus. Adichie is an acclaimed Nigerian author who focuses on the mind state of characters in her works. Psychoanalysis has contributed a lot in understanding the agony and despair of the characters in literary texts. This article also shows how cognitive therapies and related treatments aid such characters in reviving themselves. It also tries to show how Sigmund Freud inculcate his knowledge on psychosis with literature.
