Pages: 547-551
Abstract
POCSO Act 2012 was enacted with the objective of protecting the most vulnerable category of humans which is Children from sexual abuse. This gender-neutral enactment has completed a decade since its birth which according to me requires assessment so as to understand whether the objectives have been fulfilled, if not the reasons for the same. In this article, it is attempted to analyse a few aspects surrounding the saga of sexual exploitation of children which are psychological as well as sensitivity and not to forget interpretation. The criminal justice system as a whole is required to join hands and must strive together in this endeavour if it has to succeed. It is the need of the hour where crimes against children is looked more seriously as they are the next generation who will lead the society.
