Abstract
Personality is the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. It represents the individual and their feelings towards themselves. For some, this remains largely constant across different situations and times, but others may experience difficulties in the way they think and feel about themselves and others. Personality disorders may be a coping mechanism resulting from adverse life experiences or psychological trauma, rather than simply a personal behavioral choice to behave in a certain way. People with a personality disorder find it more difficult to control their behavior, and experience intense thoughts and feelings to the point where they find it difficult to adapt to daily life. They behave in ways they cannot control, and find it difficult to deal with situations and people. As a result of these challenges, they often suffer from major problems and obstacles in their relationships, social encounters, work and school. Among these disorders, we find borderline personality disorder. This disorder involves acting recklessly, taking major risks, or experiencing severe psychological crises, angry outbursts or mood swings.
