Abstract
Two-finger Test is the process of determining the virginity female it suggests that a female virgin and has not
been involved in, or been subject to sexual intercourse. The test is done to determine whether the victim was
raped or not. In this test basically the presence of an intact hymen is checked, this is based on a flawed
assumption that only sexual intercourse can break the hymen.Basically, in virginity testing (i.e. "two finger
test"), laxity of vaginal muscles is tested with fingers. A doctor performs the two finger by putting the first to
fingers into the vagina of the female to check the laxity of the muscles, general used to determine whether the
victim is "habitual to sexual intercourse". This test has been opposed by various medical authorities because
there are many factors which can cause vaginal laxity and breaking of hymen.
This paper is an attempt to bring to light the concept of two finger test, its history, uses, misuses, its ban in India
by the government and the need for another substitute of this test to establish the important evidence of this test
in the collection of medical evidence
