Digital Literacy and its Impact on Inclination towards English Literature: An Analytical Study
Abstract
With the increasing pervasiveness of digital technology, digital literacy has become a crucial skill for effective communication and information retrieval. how individuals' digital literacy skills influence their engagement with English literature, specifically their interest, appreciation, and understanding of literary works written in the English language. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The sample comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including students, professionals, and general readers. the participants' level of digital literacy, including their proficiency in utilizing digital tools, accessing online resources, and navigating digital platforms related to literature. Preliminary findings indicate a positive correlation between digital literacy and the inclination towards English literature. Participants with higher digital literacy skills demonstrated increased engagement with literary texts through digital platforms, such as e-books, online forums, and literary websites. Moreover, digital literacy facilitated active participation in literary discussions and facilitated collaborative learning experiences among readers. These results emphasize the importance of promoting digital literacy skills to enhance individuals' inclination towards English literature. Educators, policymakers, and stakeholders in the literary domain can leverage digital platforms and resources to cultivate a broader and more diverse readership, ultimately fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of English literary works in the digital age. The study survey was conducted among 213 people of different age group to know the role of Digital literacy and its impact on inclination towards English Literature.The study concludes that there is significant impact of digital literacy on inclination towards English Literature.
