The ubiquity of digitisation further fuelled by the pandemic has led to a surge in the usage of e-books in recent times. Hence the need to overview the present state of e-books was increasingly felt. The present study was conducted with the objective of identifying the meaning of e-books as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using e-books, through review of literature. Summarising the definitions given by numerous researchers it can be inferred that for something to be called an e-book, there are three requirements.
