EXAMINING THE COVERAGE OF WOMEN RELATED CRIME NEWS
SANDEEP BHATT
Pages: 9491-9500
Abstract
Many academic works have been published recently on the topic of violence reporting in the Kyrgyz press. Yet no all-encompassing research on violence against women has been identified in these studies, hence none has been published. So, our research is motivated by a desire to address a gap in the existing literature. The fact that Kyrgyzstan is a former Soviet republic was a major factor in making the decision to use it as a study universe. The fundamental difference between Soviet journalism and modern Kyrgyz journalism is the drive for profits and viewership. This primary distinction has given the research a greater significance.
