Abstract
All over the world, the construction workers are mostly found at the bottom of three hierarchies of
class, gender and caste. The interaction of class exploitation, patriarchal domination, ethnic oppression and
discrimination constitutes the core of their chronic disadvantages. The purpose of this study was to identify and
highlight economic and health impact of construction workers during covid-19 period in Pudukkottai at
Pudukkottai District. The aim of the study is to find out the economic and health impact of construction workers
during covid-19 period in Pudukkottai at Pudukkottai District, to study the social and demographic details of
construction workers, to identify the economic status of construction workers, to study the health status of
construction workers, to find out the working conditions and problems encountered by the respondents, to
offer suggestion improve and formulate government policies for construction workers. This study based on
primary and secondary data. In this study sample size of 40 workers was selected with the help of simple
random sampling technique. This study concludes that Government of India and the Government of Tamilnadu
to wipe out the tears of construction workers by developing and implementing various suggestions and
recommendation in Pudukkottai District.
