Emotional quotient or Intelligence Quotient – Parameter to measure success?

Abstract
Emotional Intelligence is being able to monitor feelings and emotions of own self and others, to discriminate among them, and to use this to guide the thinking and actions of individual. An emotionally intelligent person is experienced in four fields: recognizing , applying, understanding, and managing emotions. Emotional intelligence (EI) is defined as the ability to perceive precisely, assess and express emotions and the ability to generate feelings when they aid thoughts , recognize emotions as well as emotional information and management of emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth. The concept of EI was intercalated a decade ago by Salovey and Mayer and is described as a type of social intelligence which involves the ability to monitor emotions of own self and others, to discriminate among them, and to apply this information to direct thinking and actions of individual.
