Abstract
The 1.27 billion people who call India home live in several areas, each with its own set of
traditions and rituals that complement the country's overarching culture. This has resulted
in the continued use of several historically significant costumes and garments. We're
dedicated to spreading the word about these iconic Indian garments, which have been
worn for centuries. Every fad has a backstory, and trends are the lifeblood of the fashion
industry. The latest fashion is an innovation or improvement. Anything from the 'Bell
Bottoms' of the '70s, to Bobby prints, smart fabrics, the Sadhana cut, size zero, and even
body modification via tattooing, piercing, or plastic surgery may be considered fashion.
Since "costume is what makes a person who they are," I'm focusing my research on how
fashions in clothing have influenced civilization over the past four thousand to five
thousand years B.C.E.
From the time of the Indus Valley Civilization until that of the Mauryans, Sunga,
Satvahans, Kushans, Guptas, Mughals, and British, recognisable styles emerged at
regular intervals. We Indians have kept our traditions alive and moving ahead despite the
lasting effects of British colonialism, but the current and future influences of the West are
having a profound effect on Indian culture. As a result, our authentic Indian culture is
fading, and we have good reason to be concerned about its eventual extinction. However,
we are certain that the spirit of Indian culture will endure. It has an infinite life span.
Only at museums will our descendants learn about India's rich history. Keeping our
country's treasure, i.e. culture, alive requires us to actively promote our cultural legacy so
that this surface veneer of other cultures disappears. Therefore, the purpose of this article
is to investigate the link between cultural norms and clothing styles.
