Abstract
Globalization has resulted in a multicultural society that has triggered different reactions in all corners of society. The coexistence of racism and ethnicity within educational institutions heightens the likelihood of bullying scenarios. This research paper offers a contemplative insight into the impact of racial bullying on young children. Through an analysis of the play’s plot, character development, and overall themes, this paper will explore the ways in which racial bullying is experienced by the protagonist, Peggy, and how her experiences are reflective of the racial bullying and victimization faced by many marginalized communities. Highlighting the impact of systemic racism, the paper examines how racism has been used to oppress certain groups and how they manage to use their strength and resilience to fight back. Additionally, it looks at how these power structures are used to manipulate and control individuals, and how they can be countered by building strong communities that can support and empower each other. Finally, this paper shows how resilience can be used to challenge and ultimately break down oppressive power structures, and how important it is to empower and support marginalized individuals in their fight for justice.
