Abdelali Bekraoui, Ben Laria Abdelkader
Pages: 994-1003
Abstract
This text explores emotional deprivation within the family, emphasizing its impact on a child's psychological and social development. It defines emotional deprivation as the lack of affection, care, and emotional support from parents—especially the mother. Several psychological theories are discussed, including Attachment Theory (Bowlby), Early Emotional Deprivation (Spitz), Stimulation and Learning Theory, and Psychoanalytic Theory, highlighting the long-term consequences of disrupted early relationships. The text also outlines types of emotional deprivation (total, partial, and emotional rejection) and identifies contributing factors such as divorce, death, parental neglect, harsh treatment, and illegitimacy, all of which negatively affect a child’s mental well-being and social adaptation
