Abstract
Determining the foundations of behavioral epistemology and its impact on interpreting the digital communication phenomenon is of paramount importance in the context of the rapid technological developments experienced by post-modern societies. The shift from traditional to digital communication has generated new cognitive challenges that require researchers to reconsider the tools and concepts they use to understand individuals' behaviors (psychodigital specificities) and their interactions in the digital space. Understanding the cognitive and psychological foundations that guide the behavior of digital users is key to deciphering the complex phenomena that occur at this level, such as the spread of fake news, digital extremism, and excessive reliance on technology. Furthermore, answering this question contributes to developing more effective strategies for communication and influencing public opinion, as well as designing digital applications and services that better meet users' needs. This theoretical study seeks to explore the epistemological and behavioral criteria that form the basis for understanding the digital communication phenomenon. The study's primary objective is to analyze the cognitive approaches that can contribute to explaining the behavior of digital users, with a focus on the role of cognitive and psychological factors in guiding this behavior. By identifying the overall challenges that the study seeks to address, it aims to delve deeper into the interpretation of the digital communication phenomenon, focusing on the limitations imposed by traditional behavioral approaches. Starting from the proposal of a comprehensive theoretical framework that combines various cognitive and behavioral approaches to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the digital communication phenomenon and developing new research tools capable of collecting and analyzing data related to the behavior of digital users, the goal is to test the theoretical and psychological hypotheses that have been reached.
