Future Directions of Women Entrepreneurship in India: Major Challenges and Conflicts
Abstract
The future directions of women entrepreneurship in India hold immense economic growth and
empowerment potential. To realize this potential, fundamental problems and conflicts must be resolved.
Gender bias and preconceptions limit women's resources, networks, and markets. Social standards restrict
women from starting businesses, relegating them to gender roles. Women are less confident and have
fewer business chances. Accessing funding is still a problem for women-led firms, despite various
initiatives. Financial institutions' risk-aversion, limited collateral, and strict lending standards create this
obstacle. Women entrepreneurs also struggle without mentorship and assistance. Role models, business
advice, and networks can help entrepreneurs grow. More women-led incubators, accelerators, and
networking platforms can fill this support gap. Women entrepreneurs struggle with work-life balance and
social expectations. Multitasking, particularly caregiving, can increase stress and compromise. Providing
flexible work, cheap childcare, and shared family obligations can help resolve these difficulties. Genderinclusive legislation and a supporting ecosystem for women's entrepreneurship are needed to overcome
these issues. This requires targeted education, skill development, financial inclusion, and regulatory
reforms. Promoting gender equality and breaking gender conventions will enable women entrepreneurs to
thrive and boost India's economy. The researcher had considered 190 women entrepreneurs to explore the
challenges and conflicts in future directions of women entrepreneurship in India. The study concludes that
there is significant impact of challenges and conflicts on future directions of women entrepreneurship in
India.
