Guidance of people with respiratory disease during COVID 19

Abstract
Background
Respiratory disorders are diseases of the airways and other structures of the lungs. Coronavirus
disease ( COVID) is a respiratory disorder caused by coronavirus ( SARS COV-2). It was first
identified in Wuhan, China in 2019 and it shows symptoms similar to other respiratory disorders.
Aim
To assess the problems faced by people with respiratory disorders during corona pandemic.
Objectives
People with respiratory disorders are more vulnerable to COVID. Hence, there is a need to find
the various problems faced by them during the COVID pandemic and create awareness and
provide preventive measures to them.
Materials and method
A cross sectional study was conducted among the general population. The study was conducted
as a questionnaire based survey. The responses were recorded and the data was entered in
Microsoft Excel and transferred to SPSS software- version 23 for statistical analysis. Chi square
test was performed to compare two different variables.
Results
Statistically significant results were observed between age and the question ― Are all people with
respiratory disorders aware that they are vulnerable to COVID?‖, ―Are people with respiratory
disorders mentally stressed during the corona pandemic?‖, ―Are people with respiratory
problems neglected by their family to prevent them from COVID?‖, ―Is wearing a mask a
problem among people with respiratory problems?‖ and ―Do they face difficulty in consulting a
doctor during emergency situations?‖
Conclusion
The present study concluded that awareness about the problems faced by people with respiratory
disorders is necessary to protect them from COVID.
