Abstract
Insider trading is a thriving sector which has attracted extensive attention in contemporary decades.It is indeed
an act of hammering out deals on securities by a person having inside knowledge with a mean intent to make an
atypical profit.Insider trading was first tackled in India in early 1992 by Securities Exchange Board of India
(SEBI) Act 1992 and Securities Exchange Board of India (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations 1992,
which were later eventually revised. This article explores the different dimensions of inside transactions in India
and then analyses the parties concerned.The present article comprehends the magnitude of the insider trading
problemandfurther analyses Indian regulatory infrastructure oninsider trading and recommends strategies to
improve existing legal frameworks.
