Abstract
This study examined the evolving trends in inventory management levels among listed consumable manufacturing firms in Nigeria from 2014 to 2023. It specifically focuses on analyzing graphical trends related to three key inventory performance indicators: Days Sales of Inventory (DSI), Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI), and Inventory Turnover Ratio (ITR). By employing descriptive statistical analyses and informative visual representations, the research highlights significant shifts in inventory management practices and provides valuable insights into the efficiency of inventory management within the Nigerian manufacturing sector. The findings reveal a consistent and gradual improvement in inventory performance metrics, which indicates enhanced operational practices among these firms. As companies have adjusted to changing market dynamics, technological advancements, and competitive pressures over the years, their inventory management strategies have become increasingly strategic. The study demonstrated that improvements in DSI reflect reduced inventory holding times, while favorable trends in GMROI suggest better returns on investment linked to effective inventory control. Additionally, the analysis of the Inventory Turnover Ratio shows an upward trajectory, indicating more efficient utilization of inventory resources.
