Abstract
War, one of the devastating aspects, is a predominant one in harming the environment. Bombing, Shelling and Nuclear weapons scornfully affects the natural habitats, rummaging the ecosystem and ultimately leads to loss of flora and fauna. The Chemical explosives and hazardous materials from the warfare ravaged the potency of soil and tarnish the air and water resources. Military operations like artillery eventually obliged the indigenous communities to relocate from their homeland. Thus the war not only galvanizes environmental degradation and exploitation but also results in the enormous refugee populations. The precipitous displacement of people from their homeland anticipating the destitution of domestic animals. Animals are either killed by explosives or by Climate Change. The select story “The old man at the bridge” accentuates the aftermath of Spanish civil war and how it costs the lives of human beings. In the present study, the researcher delves into the fact how war makes people to estrange from their place of origin divulging to both physical and mental derangement. The present study impersonates the helpless victims of war. It also throws light on the fate of animals that are left behind by the fugitives during their deracination.
