Abstract
The "Me Too" campaign brought attention to the problem of sexual harassment and
abuse of women in the workplace after allegations of misconduct against American film
producer Harvey Weinstein surfaced in the media in 2017. Despite the fact that the word
had been in use for over a decade, it was not until a tweet by American actress Alyssa
Milano that it became a social media sensation that brought attention to the issue, offered
survivors a platform to share their stories, and ultimately led to significant changes in
both culture and the workplace.
The magnitude of sexual assault in the United States and throughout the globe has been
brought into the spotlight because to this campaign. It is also characterised by a renewed
emphasis on seeking justice for survivors via criminal and civil courts, as well as an
examination of power structures in the workplace that had facilitated misbehaviour.
Many high-profile men were fired in the first year of the movement after being publicly
accused of misbehaviour. Since then, the impact of the Me Too campaign has expanded
to include discussions of gender equality in the workplace. Increased safety measures and
instructional resources have been implemented in the workplace and society at large as a
result of the movement, with the goal of altering the behaviour of future generations
everywhere. This study so examines the background, effect, and different measures
proposed by various nations in response to the "me too" movement.
