Pages: 499-504
Abstract
Indian forests are renowned for their rich biodiversity and ecological significance. However, they face numerous conservation challenges, including deforestation, invasive species, climate change, and pollution. This paper provides an overview of Indian forest ecosystems, highlighting their biodiversity and the importance of conservation. It examines threats to these ecosystems and discusses conservation efforts, including legal frameworks, protected areas, community-based initiatives, and technological applications. Case studies illustrate successful conservation projects and lessons learned, while future directions emphasize emerging trends and potential solutions. Education and awareness are identified as key factors in promoting forest conservation. By addressing these challenges and embracing innovative approaches, India can continue to lead in forest conservation and biodiversity protection.
