Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of the TEACCH program in developing the cognitive skills of autistic children in the Republic of Tunisia. A total of 31 children with autism spectrum disorder participated in the study. They were between the ages of 4 and 18 and were divided into two groups : an experimental group and a control group. The first group benefited from the TEACCH program for six months, while the second group followed other educational programs for autistic children. The PEP-3 was used to measure the cognitive skills of both groups after verifying its validity in the Tunisian context ; The results were compared between the two groups. The study concluded that the children who participated in the TEACCH program showed better results than those in the control group, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in developing the cognitive skills of autistic children.
