Karima BOUCHENE, Nardjas ZEGHIB
Pages: 1-12
Abstract
Through this analysis of "My Tales of Perrault" by Tahar BEN JELLOUN, a contemporary writer who dared to revisit the famous tales of Charles Perrault, we have highlighted the subtle connections between the texts of BEN JELLOUN, those of Perrault, as well as Quranic narratives and the stories of the Arabian Nights, thanks to a rigorous and meticulous intertextual approach. This in-depth study has allowed us to identify the clear markers of orientalization that permeate Western tales, bringing new Arab and Muslim nuances, flavors, and imaginaries that enrich and sublimate the original narrative thread. The resulting hybrid, complex, and unique text testifies to BEN JELLOUN 's talent in delicately and modernly reinterpreting timeless classics.
