This study focuses on the analysis of images in master's theses in language sciences (LS). Based on a corpus of 12 theses, we highlight methodological gaps, such as a often superficial analysis of visual elements and an insufficient consideration of the plastic, cultural, and ideological dimensions. Students lack the necessary tools to conduct a more in-depth and nuanced analysis of images. These findings underscore the need to strengthen the integration of visual analysis in students' training, with an emphasis on more critical and comprehensive approaches to images.
