Abstract
Diverse individuals from widely disparate racial, social, and cultural origins congregate in various educational fields to form a single community. Since teachers are no longer the primary knowledge creators or sources with the advent of the information age, these significant changes have a significant impact on the number of classes in higher education. Different language teaching methods evolved like: Grammar Translation Method, Natural method, Phonetic Method, Direct Method, Audio Lingual Method, Communicative Language Teaching, Total Physical Response Approach and Immersion Programs. All the above methods have their own advantage and disadvantages, where students learned English only as a subject rather than as a language. At present the challenges visible before the English Language Teachersin India are diverse and it is necessary for them to shape up accordingly to meet the demands of the day. The student is inspired to perform miracles by a variety of task difficulties and novel approaches provide solid bases and set new benchmarks for the student.Learner-centric learning needs to become more concrete and teacher-centric learning needs to gradually go away.
