Perceived Impact of Computer Technology on Teaching and Learning Process at Secondary Level in Private Schools of Lahore: Perception of Teachers

Abstract
The widespread use of computers and the Internet in education has led to a debate about their impact on student learning. Today, educators believe that technology enhances learning and enables students to develop important skills. Educational technology is an integral part of our daily life. Students of private and public sectors are always connected to their devices and internet in their learning process. In order to enhance traditional classroom learning, computer technology in the classroom can be utilized to provide students with interactive activities.The purpose of this study was to identify the usage of computer technology in teaching and learning process as perceived by teachers and to compare the usage of computer technology in teaching and learning process on gender basis at secondary school level.The nature of this study was descriptive. The population was comprised of all private schools in Lahore district. The researcher took 300 respondents for our analysis (targeting private schools which had more than 5 branches). The instrument of study was questionnaire. The sample was collected through convenient sampling technique. Descriptive and inferential techniques were used to analyze the data. The most obvious findings of the study inferred that there was a strong, positive perception of teachers that computer technology and internet have an impact on students’ performance and teachers’ behavior towards computer technology in secondary school education is necessary for students’ performance i.e. class participation and self-confidence etc.
