Reding Strategies in Harry Potter Novels: ‘Child’ as a redear

Abstract
The popular Harry Potter series is significant as an effective tool for language learning because of its vast vocabulary, varied grammatical usage, and cultural allusions that help language learners of different age groups and linguistic competency. The series acquired immense fame as an engaging and effective platform for language acquisition. The Harry Potter novels help learners practice and improve four major aspects of language - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The series helps in developing critical thinking ability and intercultural competency. The present paper proposes to exploit Harry Potter novels as a Task-Based Language Teaching module/s at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. The proposed tasks are based on role playing activities, creative writing, vocabulary building and cultural and critical thinking tasks in literature as well as language classrooms.
