Abstract
In linguistics, the concept of a linguistic image of the world began to be
studied in the 1980s. Previously, the image of the world was a philosophical term. The image of
the world as a whole is a system of perceptions of this being. The image of the world is reflected
not only in the image of the whole society, but also in the image of an individual knowing the
world. The image of the world is reflected differently in different historical periods. There are as
many linguistic images of the world as there are thousands of national languages in the world.
The linguistic image of the world represents a complex process of ethnic thinking, embodying a
system of cultural and social relations. The study of the linguistic image of the world has a
linguistic content, in which the elements present in language and in what order they are arranged
and studied. However, if the researcher conducts his research in a cognitive direction, then it is
necessary to resort to lingvocognitive research to describe the linguistic image of the world. In
this case, the conceptual description of the conceptosphere is studied. In modeling the
linguocognitive phenomenon ―MEMORY‖ in English in the scientific image of the world, it is
necessary to analyze the definitions of ―MEMORY‖ in specialized and encyclopedic
dictionaries. Dictionary definitions highlight some meanings of the lexeme "MEMORY" and are
