Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a complex aetiopathogenesis. Several factors could contribute to
psoriasis pathogenesis, including genetic, environmental, and immune-mediated factors. Several clinical variants of psoriasis
have been identified, with plaque-type psoriasis being the most common variant.Methotrexate (MTX), a classic anti-psoriatic
drug, is still very useful either as single-drug therapy or in combination with other systemic drugs, particularly as a rescue
therapy or when combined with biologics. It is widely used internationally as an initial therapy for the treatment of psoriasis
and psoriatic arthritis.
