Abstract
This study presents a scientometric analysis of the research output in physics from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, one of India’s premier research institutions. Using bibliometric data from leading scientific databases, we examine the volume, growth, and impact of physics-related publications over a specified period. Key indicators such as publication trends, citation patterns, h-index, collaboration networks, and contributions to high-impact journals are analyzed to provide insights into the research productivity and global standing of IISc’s physics community.
The analysis reveals significant trends in research output, including the impact of international collaborations and the role of open-access publications in enhancing visibility. We also identify the most influential research topics, the journals that feature the majority of IISc publications, and the areas experiencing rapid growth. The findings highlight the strengths and challenges of physics research at IISc and offer recommendations for enhancing research impact and fostering collaborative networks.
This study contributes to the understanding of institutional research performance through scientometrics and provides a benchmark for evaluating the future trajectory of physics research at IISc Bengaluru.
