Abstract
The emergency of Algerian literature written in French is intimately related to French colonialism of Algeria (1830-1954). During this period, France has imposed its language as well as culture on Algerian society, leading to the creation of Algerian intellictuals class. These intellictuals have learnt French and use it in writing to express their opinions on some issues, which represent their main concern. Despite French is the language of the colonialist, many Algerian writers have adopted it for expressing their resistance to the colonialist, including its political and cultural dominance. Si Mhamad Barahal is one the leaders whom contribute greately in liying the foundations of this literature art. Actually, he is the first writers who writes a story in French entitled « The Revenge of an Old man », in which he describes the Algerian Bedouin society life by the end of the 19th century. Embracing French culture and communicating openly with the colonialist by the Algerian elite represent his major concern, as they lead to serious cosequences .
