Abstract
Food waste is a serious problem all throughout the world, but it is especially acute in developing countries. To combat the growing problem of food waste, sustainable technology is needed throughout the whole waste management spectrum, from collection to disposal. Recently, there has been a lot of press around the issue of food waste and loss on a worldwide scale. Every year, over a third of the food that might be used by humans goes to waste. The most promising strategies for recycling food scraps into sustainable feed products rich in safety and nutrition are source reduction and cutting-edge treatment technology. The byproducts of the food industry are also used to create biofuels and biopolymers. When compared to the effects of burning fossil fuels, biofuels are more benign. The fundamental contribution of this study is a synthesis of conceptual and operational approaches to lessening the incidence of food waste and loss. It lays bare the pros and cons of several strategies for ensuring the sustainability, reliability, and safety of our food supply.
