THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEACHING APTITUDE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

Abstract
Education is a social endeavor to ensure the continuation and sustenance of society. The
responsibility to mold and prepare future generations falls in the hands of teachers. Then role of a
teacher is an all-encompassing one, the quality of which is dictated by numerous factors including
personal traits, competence, attitude, aptitude, effectiveness, etc. The purpose of the study is to find
out the teaching aptitude and effectiveness of government secondary school teachers in Aizawl
District. The study also aims to find out if there is any significant difference in the attitude and
effectiveness of government secondary school teachers with reference to their gender. The question of
relationship between the teaching aptitude and effectiveness of government secondary school teachers
is also addressed. The study is carried out on a sample of 120 government secondary school teachers
out of which 68 are males and 52 are females. The study revealed that majority of the teachers
possess average aptitude and effectiveness. It is also revealed that teaching aptitude and teacher
effectiveness are positively correlated.
