Interpretive criticism aims to uncover the intentions and purposes of the creator by delving into the depths of the text and its obscure corners. Thus, interpretation emerges as a reading practice that establishes its position within semiotic and deconstructive reading approaches, among others. We will attempt, relying on description and analysis, to trace the concept of interpretive criticism, its main theoretical and procedural foundations, through the issues posed by the concept of terminology and its translation, the boundaries of its subject, and its prominent advocates.
