Abstract
The research aims to identify the strategies for controlling thinking among postgraduate students, and the research
sample consisted of (300) male and female students, they were selected by the random stratified method of
proportional style, where the researcher prepared a scale of thinking control strategies and it consisted of seven areas
(re-evaluation, control). Social, successful suppression, self-direction, punishment, distraction, anxiety) and the
psychometric properties of the scale were confirmed from validity and reliability, and the researcher adopted a
number of statistical methods to analyze the data, and the results showed that the dimensions of thinking control
strategies for graduate students who scored the first four places in a row. They are (distraction, re-evaluation,
successful suppression, self-direction) while the last three places in a row are (punishment, social control, anxiety) in
the research sample in general. And it appeared that the calculated T-value is greater than the tabular value (1.96)
degrees, at the level of significance (0.05), and the degree of freedom (299), and the difference was in favor of the
average of the research sample. According to the results of the research, a number of recommendations and
suggestions were included.
