Abstract
The transition from lower secondary to senior secondary education represents a critical period in the lives of students, characterized by significant changes in academic expectations, social dynamics, and personal development. This study aims to investigate the adjustment process of senior secondary students and explore the factors that influence their successful adaptation to the new educational environment.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, to gather comprehensive data on student adjustment. A sample of senior secondary students from diverse educational settings will be selected to ensure a representative analysis. The quantitative phase involves administering standardized questionnaires to measure students' levels of adjustment, academic performance, social integration, and emotional well-being. These data will provide a quantitative foundation for understanding the overall adjustment patterns among senior secondary students.
Furthermore, the qualitative phase involves conducting in-depth interviews with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their subjective experiences, challenges, and coping strategies during the adjustment process. The interviews will explore various factors, including academic expectations, social relationships, self-identity, and support systems, that contribute to or hinder successful adjustment. Through thematic analysis, common themes and patterns will be identified to enrich the understanding of the adjustment process.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on student adjustment by shedding light on the specific challenges faced by senior secondary students and the strategies they employ to navigate these challenges. The results will inform educational stakeholders, including teachers, counselors, and policymakers, in developing targeted interventions and support systems to facilitate the adjustment process. Additionally, this research will provide valuable insights for parents and guardians, enabling them to understand and support their adolescents effectively during this critical period of transition.
By comprehensively exploring the adjustment process of senior secondary students, this study seeks to contribute to the broader goal of fostering positive educational experiences and promoting well-being among students in the senior secondary phase.
